BILDER AUS DEM DESSAUER TURM

Karl Horst Hödicke

Nov 13 - Jan 21 · Tue–Sun 11:00–18:00 and by appointment

Alexandrinenstraße 118-121, 10969 Berlin

The exhibition presents paintings and works by Karl Horst Hödicke that focus on the interior life of the Dessauer Straße “tower” where he lived and worked, addressing domestic surroundings, family, and everyday motifs he described as coming “right under his nose.” It includes paintings from the 2001 series “Küche und Klo” (depicting objects like a colander and a fried egg), floral paintings such as yellow tulips on a black background, the large-format painting “der Sohn des Artisten + der Elvira (für Elvira)” (showing Hödicke’s wife Elvira and their son Jonas), a small bronze sculpture of the same motif, and an extensive body of gouaches; many works show energetic brushwork and were made with homemade or hardware-store paints.
