THE LAST ONES AWAKE

THE LAST ONES AWAKE is a solo exhibition by Rebecca Brodskis at KÖNIG GALERIE’s Vault of St. Agnes (9 September–8 November 2026) presenting portraits of close friends from the years she spent in Berlin. The oil-on-linen paintings depict members of her chosen family, showing figures suspended in moments of introspection and functioning less as individual likenesses than as fragments of a collective memory. The exhibition reflects on the mid-2000s Berlin context—when low rents, improvised studios, and limited means shaped a close artistic community—and on how those friendships became a form of kinship and everyday sustenance.
