ECHOTROPIA

ECHOTROPIA is an exhibition of paintings by Christian Achenbach at KÖNIG GALERIE’s Nave (St. Agnes), running 9 September–8 November 2026, centered on GENESIS, a monumental painting created for the space. The works use a color palette of bright yellows, saturated oranges, burning reds, deep blues, and rich greens and feature wavy, colorful streaks that open onto timeless landscapes alongside still lifes set by windows or terraces. The exhibition explores multiplicity of perspectives and echoes, contrasts an abstract, grid-like foreground with vivid landscapes, and revisits motifs from Achenbach’s VANITAS and later interior series while invoking Guo Xi’s notion of an “angle of totality.”
