the year of mud is an exhibition of new paintings by London-based artist Li Hei Di at Pace’s 540 West 25th Street gallery from November 6 through December 19, 2026 (opening reception November 5). The works, positioned between figuration and abstraction, document what Li describes as a year of reckoning and explore transformation and shifting states of the body—drawing on the myth of Nüwa—and the exhibition is conceived as a mediated, continual process of discovery; Pace Publishing will release a monograph after the show with a new text by Tyler Blackwell.
