Winter Sun is an exhibition of new paintings by American artist Jordan Casteel at Thaddaeus Ropac Paris Marais; it is her first exhibition in France and the most significant showing of her work in Europe to date. Created in the first half of 2026 in a cool, earthy palette inspired by winter light, the paintings include figurative portraits, landscapes and botanical works that reflect on dormancy and renewal, hope and grief, love and loss, and light and darkness. Several works address maternal care and Casteel’s immediate domestic sphere following the birth of her son, and the exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with an essay by Amandine Nana.
