Yuan Yuan

Bortolami presents new paintings by Yuan Yuan, the artist’s first exhibition in the United States. The works bring together manmade landscapes, water, and aquatic life with vernacular urban Asian settings and Western art-historical imagery, and use a wet-on-wet painting technique that produces nearly liquid surfaces where forms coalesce and then melt back into shifting color and light, leaving memory, place, and time in a state of slippage between recognition and disappearance.
